I earned my PhD in Anthropology with a dissertation on the resources available to Latino immigrants in Southwestern Pennsylvania for managing conflicts and disputes. I am currently a Postdoctoral Associate at the Graduate School of Public Health - BCHS, and am interested in doing research on intimate partner violence among Latinos in Southwestern Pennsylvania, focusing on the influence of gender roles and immigration. For five years I was president of "9 Lunas...," a support group for Latino mothers in the Pittsburgh region which won the 2009 YWCA Racial Justice Award in the category of Health Care.
